Solar panels don’t need direct sunlight to work and even work on cloudy days but the stronger the sunshine the more electricity is generated, this is why they are always placed in a southerly position and away from any nearby buildings, trees or anything that could shade the roof and hamper the performance of the system. Of course sunlight is free so once you have paid for the initial installation your bills will significantly reduce with the added bonus of being a low carbon, renewable energy.
If you are considering having PV solar panels installed you really need to decide if you have enough space. The systems will typically need 20m2 of roof area in order for you to really benefit from them. – Remove
