Water Boosting Solution, Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pumps
This unique development in Clayhidon comprises a bespoke self-build alongside three additional new build properties. The project was fully designed by Otter South West, incorporating Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pumps to ensure energy efficiency and sustainability throughout.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was the rural location and the fact that the entire site relied on a single 25mm mains water supply. Due to difficult terrain and limited accessibility, bringing in additional water connections was not an option.
To overcome this, our team carefully calculated the available flow and volume from the existing supply and designed a fully insulated, WRAS-approved boosted water storage system. As shown in the images below, each property is individually metered, and the centrally located pumping station now delivers consistent and reliable water pressure to all homes—regardless of demand or elevation.
This system not only resolves the site’s low pressure issues but also ensures excellent water flow for daily use—whether it’s for showers, taps, or household appliances—greatly enhancing comfort for residents.
